Wage details of the tentative collective agreement reached between Telus and the Telecommunications Workers Union (TWU) have been released. The two parties arrived at an agreement last week but did not immediately share any details of the negotiations.
Employees will see a 1.5 per cent wage increase in July 2011 and a 2 per cent wage increase the three years following. In July 2015, employees will receive a 2.5 per cent increase.
A $400 dollar lump sum will also be given to employees hired before November 20, 2010 who are working more than 50 per cent of full time hours. Those employees working less than 50 per cent of full time hours will receive a $200 lump sum.
The union’s previous contract expired on November 18, 2010 with Telus, the second largest telecommunications company in Canada.
The TWU will be recommending that their approximately 12,100 members vote in favour of the tentative agreement when they present it to its membership in the coming weeks.
