Workers at Toronto’s Ray Plastics achieve new collective agreement

Raises in each of three-year deal

UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at Ray Plastics in Toronto have ratified a new collective agreement which includes wage increases and more.

Ray Plastics Ltd. is a plastic injection molding and assembly company that has been in operation for more than 50 years.

As per the new agreement, all wage rates increase by $0.30 per hour in the first and second year, and $0.35 per hour in the final year of the three-year deal. There is also new language included which addresses the use of agency workers to prevent the layoff, displacement, and replacement of bargaining unit members, according to the union.

New vacation language added also ensures that all current members may achieve the maximum vacation entitlement of seven weeks. The employer has also agreed to increase its contributions to the UFCW Benefit Trust Fund to maintain health benefits and has also increased its contributions to the UFCW Canada Local 175 Training & Education Fund each year of the term, said the union.
