Workers at UPS Supply Chain Solutions in Vaughan, Ont., join UFCW

Wage disparities, job security key reasons for vote: Union

Workers at UPS Supply Chain Solutions in Vaughan, Ont., voted March 21 to join the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW), Local 1006A.

“More and more workers are realizing that joining UFCW is the key to achieving fairness, respect, and dignity at work,” said Wayne Hanley, president of UFCW, Local 1006A.

The local represents more than 110 members at the UPS warehouse in Vaughan. The UPS members work as warehouse associates and dispatchers for the largest delivery company in the world, according to the union.

Wage disparities, job security, seniority, and concerns about treatment at work were key reasons why the UPS workers decided to join the union, said UFCW.
