Loomis Express workers ratify collective agreement

Contract includes 10 per cent wage boost

A tentative agreement reached on May 1 was ratified May 23, by Unifor members at Loomis Express.

The new four-year contract includes a 10 per cent wage increase, other monetary benefits and a pension enhancement. Unifor was also successful in bargaining additional sick days, eight women’s advocate positions and eliminated the ability to contract out work, said the union.

Unifor represents 1,600 workers at Loomis Express. The membership includes hourly drivers, owner operators, call centre staff, clerical, and warehouse workers.

The previous contract expired on March 31, 2017.
