Toronto (410 restaurant workers) and Teamsters Local 847

Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2019. Signed on July 1, 2016.
Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for lead hand. $0.60 per hour for all hours worked after 9 p.m.
Paid holidays: 10 days. 
Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 6 years, 4 weeks after 12 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 20 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked after 40 hours per week. 
Meal allowance: $12 when working more than 2 hours’ overtime.
Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $300 per employee per month to Local Union 847 Health & Welfare Trust Fund. Expenses covered lifetime maximum of $1,000,000 per covered person.
Dental: Basic dental: 100%. Major dental services: 50%. Orthodontic services: 50% (for dependent children than 19). Basic and major dental services combined maximum of $2,000 per year. Orthodontic services maximum of $2,500 per lifetime.
Vision: $300 per year (previously $200) for persons younger than 18; $300 (previously $200) every 24 months for persons 18 or older.
Paramedical: Chiropractor, osteopath, naturopath, podiatrist/chiropodist, acupuncturist, registered clinical psychologist, physiotherapist, registered massage therapist, orthophonist/speech therapist: maximum of $1,000 per year per family.
LTD: 66.67% of earnings, maximum $3,000 per month.
AD&D: Coverage of 2 times’ basic earnings, maximum $200,000 (previously $150,000).
Life insurance: Coverage of 2 times’ basic earnings, maximum $200,000.
Pension: Employer will contribute 5% per employee per month to Local Union 847 Defined Contribution Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (child, spouse, father, mother, sister, brother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren).
Seniority – recall rights: 24 months. 
Probationary period: 60 days. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.
Safety shoes: $120 per year for safety boots.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply employees with work gloves, safety glasses. Employer will supply uniforms and provide dry cleaning, tailoring.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after increase):
Server: $10 rising to $0.25 cents more than Ontario minimum wage
Bartender: $10 rising to $0.25 cents more than Ontario minimum wage
Barback: $11.55 rising 3 steps to $12.30
Busser: $12.05 rising 3 steps to $12.80
Hostess: $13.70 rising 3 steps to $14.45
Chef de partie: $18.20 rising 3 steps to $19.40
Lead cook: $16.70 rising 3 steps to $17.90
Kitchen worker: $15.15 rising 3 steps to $16.35
Apprentice cook: $13.10 rising 3 steps to $14.30
Utility attendant: $13.10 rising 3 steps to $14.30
Editor’s notes: Gratuities: 15.5% will be added to catering invoice and will be distributed as follows: 14.4% will be divided among catering personnel working that event on basis of hours worked; 1.1% will be divided among kitchen staff on basis of hours worked in pay period. Orthopaedic shoes/orthotics: $200 per shoe, maximum of $400 per year. Hearing aids: $500 every five years. Breast prosthesis: $150 in any 5-year period. Artificial limbs, eyes; back and neck braces: $750 lifetime per appliance.
