Ontario's public service professionals vote 'yes' to 4-year contract

Deal includes 7.5 per cent salary increase, extends to 2022

Members of AMAPCEO (Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario) in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) have voted overwhelmingly to accept a four-year rollover of their existing contract.

In a ratification vote conducted online, 94 per cent of those voting approved the tentative agreement.

The deal includes “fair compensation increases after several years of freezes," said president Dave Bulmer.

The rollover extends the existing collective agreement until March 31, 2022, and includes a 7.5 per cent salary increase over the next four years.

"Having four years until our contract expires gives stability to our members, but also gives the union an opportunity to focus on education and membership engagement," said vice-president Cynthia Watt. "Now is a great time for members to get involved and learn new skills to build an even stronger union."

AMAPCEO represents more than 13,000 public service professionals who work directly for the Ontario government, in all ministries and in all regions of the province — among them, policy and financial analysts, auditors, IT specialists, scientists and economists.
