Chatham-Kent, Ont. (90 school bus drivers, monitors) and Unifor Local 127

Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2016, to March 31, 2019. Signed on March 8, 2016.
Shift premium: If driver must spend extra time on school route (for reasons not their own) for same issue 3 times, employer will pay driver for additional time at $14.50 per hour.
Paid holidays: School bus drivers’ days are: New Year’s Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day. Community living drivers include the above days plus Civic Holiday and Labour Day. 
Vacations with pay: 4% pay after 1 year, 6% pay after 6 years. 
Meal allowance: After 5 hours: maximum $11; after 7 hours: maximum $22; after 13 hours: maximum $33.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law spouse, son, daughter, parent, sister, brother, father, mother-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, stepparent, stepparent of spouse, stepbrother, sister, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepchildren).
Seniority – recall rights: 2 years or length of service, whichever is greater. 
Probationary period: 60 days (excluding July and August unless employee is working for branch during this period).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months; 24 months for preventable accidents.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current):
Wage rate: $14.50 per hour, 1-hour minimum
In-town movement for each way: $14.50 per hour
Wheelchair (per run): $0.86 per hour
Charters
$14.50 per hour, 2-hour minimum
Overnight: $35
Layover: $125
Shuttling buses (from Wallaceburg to Chatham)
$14.50 per hour (1.5-hour round trip: $21.75)
$14.50 per hour for driver of shuttle bus
$11.75 per hour for passenger of shuttle bus
$11.75 per hour for meeting rate
Editor’s notes: Charter work: Employees are eligible to sign for charters under following requirements: School bus charter drivers must have 1 year of seniority as of first day of October for each year; in-town movement drivers must have 3 months of seniority as of first day of October for each year (there will be second sign-up on Feb. 1; 2909 charters must have 1 year of seniority as of first day of October for each year and pass wheelchair training. Farm bus: Hydro allowance will be $20 per month. Once bus is plugged in during any month this allowance will be paid for full month. Education fund: $200 will be paid annually to Unifor Paid Education Fund. Medical notes: $125 will be contributed towards cost of M.T.O. medical examination required to maintain class B licence. Medical notes requested by company will be paid maximum $25.
