United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW), Local 1006A members working at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in London, Ont., ratified a new contract Oct. 17 that brings increases to wages and improvements to benefits.

Located in downtown London, the DoubleTree hotel is a site for meetings, conferences weddings and social gatherings in Southwestern Ontario.

The new contract features several improvements such as wage increases for housekeeping, laundry and other classifications. As well, banquet staff will see overall wages double over the term of the contract, said the union.

The deal also includes improvement to sick-day language to five days from zero previously, and an increase to health and welfare benefits, according to UFCW.
