Registered nurses (RNs) who provide patient care to the residents of Westgate Lodge in Belleville, Ont., unanimously voted in favour of joining Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) on Dec. 1.

“The vulnerable residents of this 88-bed nursing home need and deserve the high-quality care that our dedicated RNs provide. ONA continues to get loud about the need for more hands-on RN-care for nursing homes,” said Linda Haslam-Stroud, ONA president.

ONA is the union representing 65,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 16,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
