Calgary (3,000 grocery store employees) and the Union of Calgary Co-Operative Employees (UCCE)

Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 14, 2017, to Oct. 31, 2020. Ratified on Sept. 14, 2017. Signed on Feb. 1, 2018. 
Wage adjustments: 
Effective Oct. 1, 2017: 1.5% increase to wage rates greater than $13.60 per hour
Effective Oct. 7, 2018: 1.5% increase to wage rates greater than $15 per hour
Effective Oct. 6, 2019: 2% increase to wage rates greater than $15 per hour
Shift premium: $2 per hour for all hours worked between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. $1 per hour worked as liquor warehouse lead-hand. $1.50 per hour for all hours worked between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday as gas-bar service clerk.
Paid holidays: 11 days. 
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 13 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 18 years, 7 weeks or 14% after 25 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 7 3/4 hours per day (head office) or 8 hours per day (centre/location) or 38 3/4 hours per week (head office) or 40 hours per week (centre/location). May be taken as time off, maximum 40 hours banked. 
Meal allowance: $10 for employee who works 12 or more consecutive hours per day.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Employees may access health-spending account of $500 per year. May be carried over into next year, but must be used within that year, maximum $1,000 total. 
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 1 hour per every 28 hours worked. 
LTD: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums. 
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $10,000 in coverage.
Bereavement leave: 7 days for death of spouse, child, stepchild, parent, stepparent. 3 days for death of legal guardian, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandchild, grandparents, spouse’s grandparents. 1 day unpaid leave to attend funeral of friend or other family member. 
Seniority – recall rights: 24 months. 
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours. Should no employees be available for full call-in shift employee may be called in to work shift of no less than 3 hours.
Probationary period: 17 weeks, 26 weeks for head office employees. 
Severance: 1 week per year of service or part thereof. Employees with more than 15 years of service will receive additional $200 for every full year of completed service.
Safety shoes: Employer will pay 50% of cost of safety boots or shoes, maximum $75 per year.

Editor’s notes: Safety device: Employees who are working alone will be supplied with monitored security device to alert police or security if there is safety threat. Medical notes: Employer will reimburse employees, maximum $40, for cost to procure medical documentation unless it is not accepted by employer.
