Tentative deals reached at BC Oil & Gas Commission, BC Hydro

Modest wage increases in line with Co-operative Gains Mandate

Two tentative agreements have been reached at Crown agencies in British Columbia: one between the B.C. Oil & Gas Commission and the B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) and the other between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and B.C. Hydro under B.C.’s 2012 Co-operative Gains Mandate.

The B.C. Oil & Gas Commission deal covers 160 inspectors, community relations and communications staff, enforcement officers, file clerks and human resources representatives.

The B.C. Hydro deal affects 2,000 members of IBEW Local 258 who are power line technicians and electricians.

Both agreements include modest wage increases, which are funded from existing budgets, as outlined by the province’s 2012 Co-operative Gains Mandate. Ratification will take place in the next few weeks.
