University of New Brunswick teachers vote to go on strike

Strike supported by 90 per cent of members: union

FREDERICTON (CP) — A labour dispute at the University of New Brunswick is gathering steam.

The union representing academic staff says its members have voted to go on strike.

The Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers says 90 per cent of its members have voted to give the union a strike mandate.

Wages and workload are the main issues.

The union represents more than one thousand full-time and contract academic staff and librarians.

They work in Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton and Bathurst.
