Ontario, AEFO reach tentative contract agreement

Deal would expire in 2019

The Ontario government announced a tentative labour agreement with the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO).

"The recent round of discussions with AEFO and the Council of Trustees' Associations (composed of the Association des conseils scolaires des écoles publiques de l'Ontario, and the Association franco-ontarienne des conseils scolaires catholiques) were extremely collaborative and productive, and have resulted in a tentative agreement for a new two-year contract from September 2017 to August 2019,” said Mitzie Hunter, education minister.

AEFO members represent about 10,000 workers in the French public and Catholic school boards and other Francophone organizations in Ontario.

No details were released by the government or the union.
