New contract for members at IGA Super-Marché in Quebec City

Workers sign seven-year collective agreement: Union

Workers at the IGA Super-Marché Pierre Jobidon in the Limoilou neighbourhood of Quebec City ratified a new collective agreement Sept. 18.

The seven-year contract came into effect in August and provides United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW) Local 500 members with several gains, including:

• A 25 per cent increase in bonus for assistant managers,

• An increase of up to two per cent for the Christmas bonus,

• A guarantee that dental care plan premiums — which is 80 per cent funded by the employer — will be indexed for duration of the contract,

• A two per cent wage increase in each year of the contract for workers at the top of the wage scale.

“This new contract improves working conditions for the members at IGA, at a time when competition in the grocery industry is becoming increasingly fierce,” says Antonio Filato, President of UFCW Canada Local 500. “Congratulations to the bargaining team members on achieving an excellent agreement,” he adds.
