OLG workers in Sault Ste Marie unionize with PSAC

Parties to begin negotiating process for collective agreement

Workers employed at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corporation’s head office in Sault Ste Marie officially unionized with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).

The Ontario Labour Relations Board issued the union with an interim certificate to represent the nearly 400 workers at the OLG headquarters.

“By joining PSAC, these workers will have access to resources and expertise that will asses them during this difficult transition by the OLG, as it pursues privatization,” said Sharon DeSousa, PSAC Ontario regional executive vice-president.

With the interim certificate, the union will now begin the negotiating process to create a collective agreement.

A final certificate will be issued once the remaining disputed ballots have been settled by the parties.
