New Flyer, CWA ratify collective agreement

Deal includes wage increases, improvements to wage scales

New Flyer and the Communication Workers of America (CWA) recently ratified a collective agreement at the company’s Manitoba facility.

The five-year agreement – covering employees at the heavy-duty transit buses and motor coaches manufacturer – became effective on Jan. 1 and will expire on Dec. 31, 2020.

The unionized workforce at New Flyer’s Crookston, Man., facility represents approximately five per cent of the company’s total workforce in North America.

The deal provides wage increases of 2.25 per cent in its first two years, a wage increase of 2.5 per cent in its third year and a wage increase of 2.75 per cent in its final two years.

The collective agreement also provides certain wage scale improvements.
