LifeLabs workers issue 72-hour strike notice

Issues include wages, employer demands for concessions

Members of the British Columbia Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) who provide laboratory test results to doctors from LifeLabs facilities around the province are ready for job action in the coming days.

The workers will be in a legal strike position as of 6 a.m. on Jan. 21. Key issues include wages and employer demands for concessions.

The planned job action will affect Patient Service Centres, test sites and blood collection sites on a rotating basis. Members will be on strike at sites in Metro Vancouver, southern and central Vancouver Island and Nelson.
