Nearly 3,000 flight attendants at WestJet have ratified their very first contract.
Last week, the Calgary-based airline’s employee association announced flight attendants had approved a five-year agreement that includes compensation and employment condition provisions, as well as standardized processes and established a formal framework for discussions between the association and company.
The agreement is the first of its kind negotiated between the airline and its elected employee association.
“We negotiated the best possible agreement for our rapidly growing membership and will follow through to ensure the best interest of our flight attendants are clearly represented through the term of this agreement,” said Anthony Pascale, chair of the Flight Attendant Association Board. “We are pleased with the result of negotiations and believe this agreement offers the best flexibility and work environment of any airline in Canada.”
