Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2015, to March 31, 2018. Signed on May 1, 2015.

Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2016: 2.25%
Effective March 31, 2017: 2.5%

Shift premium: $4 per hour Northern Allowance for employees working at the Wabush, Goose Bay and Churchill Falls airports. $1 per hour when a security checkpoint coordinator is assigned to lead security checkpoint coordinator. $24 split shift premium.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 4 years, 4 weeks after 10 years and 5 weeks after 15 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked beyond 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.

Medical benefits: Employer pays the cost of a medical certificate every 2 years. The employer agrees to maintain the employee’s first aid certificate following 2 years of service. Employer contributes $1.46 per hour worked to medical plan. $1.49 per hour worked effective March 31, 2017.

Sick leave: Earned at 3/4 days per month worked to a total of 8 days per year.

Pension: Employer and employee contribute 4% to pension plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for employee’s spouse, child, father, mother, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law or daughter-in-law.

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 6 months for the first written reprimand. 1 year for subsequent reprimands issued within the first sunset clause period.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides uniforms as required and will provide for any necessary alterations through the uniform provider. Surgical or other proven protective gloves must be worn at all times by all employees during physical search of both passengers and baggage. The employer provides gloves.

Mileage: 52¢ per km. Any travel in excess of 400 km from the airport where the employee is regularly assigned will have the option of flying to the destination.

Sample rates of pay (current, after 2.25% increase):
Screening officers: $17.23 per hour rising in 4 steps to $20.83

Editor’s notes: Education fund: The employer will contribute $1,500 to Locals 5319 and 9342, respectively, each calendar year for the union’s Education Fund. Wedding day: 1 paid day for employee’s wedding. Birth or adoption: 3 paid days. Court leave: An employee called to serve as a witness will be paid as if he had worked for the time spent in court, including travel. Jury and crown witness leave: An employee called to serve as a juror or crown witness must inform his employer as soon as he receives the subpoena. The employee will be paid the difference between his jury or witness duty fee and his regular wages. First aid: The employer will make first-aid facilities available at the work site. Training: Training will be offered on a seniority basis. In the event an employee is not successful during training, the employee will not be considered a priority for the same training in the next year.
