Workers at Impact Security Group in Saskatchewan sign new contract

United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW), Local 1400 members working for Impact Security Group in Regina and Saskatoon in Saskatchewan, signed a new three-year collective agreement on July 4 that includes wage increases and language improvements.

Contract highlights include wage improvements totaling 7.5 per cent, with 2.5 per cent increases in years one, two, and three, a $100 signing-bonus for employees working more than 30 hours per week, $50 for members working less than 30 hours per week and the addition of a new RRSP provision where the employer will now match RRSP contributions up to 2.5 per cent, said the union.

The agreement also includes improved layoff and recall language and the addition of new compassionate-care leave with provisions for leave to resolve issues that occur due to domestic disputes, according to UFCW.

Impact Security Group is one of the largest security providers in Western Canada.

UFCW Canada Local 1400 represents more than 6,000 workers in Saskatchewan.
