Workers at Mount Polley mine in B.C. to vote on tentative deal

Ballots on July 31, Aug. 1: USW

About 200 members of the United Steelworkers (USW) at Mount Polley mine near Williams Lake, B.C., are set to vote on a tentative agreement next week, following an eight-week strike in response to a company lockout.

“Our members have stood strong and stood together in their desire to see a fair agreement,” said Sean Ball, USW staff representative. “We’re confident that we have found an agreement that resolves a number of our members’ concerns and protects what they have fought for.”

Voting on the tentative agreement will take place July 31 and Aug. 1. If the agreement is approved, members will soon return to work, said the union.
