Senior-care workers at Benevolence Care Centre in Edmonton join AUPE

Join four other Alberta-based locations

The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) welcomed about 90 nursing care and support staff at Park Place Seniors Living Benevolence Care Centre in Edmonton into Alberta’s largest union after a staff vote on Aug. 1.

“We welcome these dedicated front-line seniors-care workers to the AUPE family,” said James Hart, AUPE vice-president. “They now join Albertans working at four other Park Place Seniors Care sites around the province who are members of our union.”

“These employees work around the clock to provide crucial supports and care to Edmonton and area seniors. They now have the ability to collectively bargain wages, working conditions and more that will benefit them and the seniors they care for,” said Hart.

Park Place Seniors Living is a private, for profit seniors care provider based in British Columbia.

AUPE represents more than 93,000 members province-wide. More than half work in health care, including public, private and non-profit seniors care.
