Wages boosted in each of four years of new deal: IAM

Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (v), Local 2332 ratified a new collective agreement on Sept. 21 with Maitland Ford Lincoln Sales in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

The four-year agreement provides wage increases of one per cent in the first year and 2.5 per cent in years two, three and four respectively, according to IAM.

Other agreement highlights include a signing bonus of $1,000 for journeymen and $500 for all others and pension contributions will increase from the current 11 per cent to 13 per cent in five-per-cent yearly increments, said the union.

The 17 employees include journeymen, parts personnel and general garage workers, according to IAM. 

The IAM represents workers at five auto dealerships in the steel city. Across Canada, the IAM represents more than 1,500 workers in automotive dealerships on Vancouver Island, the lower mainland of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.
