Pond Inlet, Nunavut (19 administrative, maintenance employees) and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), as represented by its agent, Nunavut Employees Union (NEU).

Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2017, to March 31, 2020. Signed on April 27, 2018.
Paid holidays: 12 days, plus 3 days between Christmas and New Year’s Day in 2018 and 2019.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after regular hours. Double time for all work after 4 hours of overtime after or before shift, all work after 8 hours on day of rest, all work on second day of rest. May be taken as time off in lieu, maximum 20 days. 
Meal allowance: Employer will provide meal or meal allowance equal to amount of dinner at duty-travel rate after 3 hours of overtime.
Medical benefits: Northern Employee Benefits Services Group Benefit Plan (including basic life insurance (3 times salary); accidental death, disease and dismemberment (3 times salary); dependant’s insurance; long term disability 60% non-taxable) and short-term disability (weekly indemnity 60% non-taxable). Plans are conditions of employment for all eligible employees.
Sick leave: 1 1/4 days for each month for which employee receives pay for at least 75 hours.
Pension: NEBS Pension Plan, after 6 months of service. Employer contributes 8%, employee contributes 8%.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse, child, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in law, any relative residing in employee’s household). 3 days for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, cousin. 2 days for death of person to whom employee was personally close.
Call-in pay: Greater of compensation at appropriate overtime rate or compensation equivalent to 4 hours of pay at straight-time rate.
Probationary period: 6 months 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 20 months.
Safety shoes: Employer will cover cost of winter and summer safety boots for employees, once per year.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide hard hats, aprons, welding goggles, dust protection, eye protection (including prescription goggles), ear protection.

Editor’s notes: Return-to-duty: 5 days per year when employee’s return to duty from leave is delayed due to being caught out on land or water during severe weather conditions if employee makes every reasonable effort to avoid being caught unawares and tries to report for duty. Benefit also applies to employees whose air transportation is tied up because of weather. Leave for hunting, fishing or harvesting: Leave without pay may be granted to employee to meet traditional hunting, fishing or harvesting pursuits. Bilingual bonus: Employees who are required to use 2 or more of official languages of Nunavut will receive $1,500 per year. Plug-ins: Employees required to keep employer vehicles overnight at homes (from Nov. 1 to April 30) will be paid $10 per night for employees not in subsidized social housing or $3 per night for those employees in subsidized social housing. Standby: $24 for weekdays. $36 for Saturdays, Sundays, holidays. Social justice fund: Employer will contribute $0.01 per hour worked to PSAC Social Justice Fund.
