100 employees ratified deal by 92 per cent: UFCW
United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW) Canada, Local 500 members working at IGA in L'Île-Bizard, Quebec achieved a new collective agreement on Nov. 22 that comes into effect on Jan. 1.
The 100 food retail members ratified their new contract by a vote of 92 per cent, said the union.
Under the agreement, members will see the following improvements a two per cent wage increase for workers at the top of the pay scale, the creation of six new regular jobs and positions and bonuses for checkout supervisors, said UFCW.
UFCW Canada, Local 500 represents more than 37,000 members across Quebec working in almost every sector of the economy.
