New contract for food-retail workers at IGA in L'Île-Bizard, Que.

United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW) Canada, Local 500 members working at IGA in L'Île-Bizard, Quebec achieved a new collective agreement on Nov. 22 that comes into effect on Jan. 1.

The 100 food retail members ratified their new contract by a vote of 92 per cent, said the union.

Under the agreement, members will see the following improvements a two per cent wage increase for workers at the top of the pay scale, the creation of six new regular jobs and positions and bonuses for checkout supervisors, said UFCW.
