Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2017, to Aug. 31, 2020. Signed on Nov. 22, 2017. 
Wage adjustments: 
Effective Sept. 1, 2017: 2%
Effective Sept. 1, 2017: 3%
Effective Sept. 1, 2017: 2%
Total compounded increase: 7.16%
Shift premium: $2 per unit taught and for every student in excess of 75 students.
Paid holidays: Holiday pay included in each paycheque. 
Vacations with pay: 6% per paycheque.
Medical benefits: Employer will remit to CUPE, Local 3906 for health benefits $26,000 for year 1 (effective date of ratification); $64,000 for year 2 (effective Sept. 1, 2018); $68,000 for year 3 (effective Sept. 1, 2019). CUPE will offer health benefits at rate of 100% premiums paid by employees.
Dental: Employer will contribute $93,000 per year to CUPE Local 3906 Dental Plan, payable on May 1 of each year, towards premiums for dental benefits for employees, to be allocated for single or family coverage.
Bereavement leave: 1 calendar week for death in immediate family (spouse, child, stepchild, ward, grandchild, mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandmother, grandfather). Maximum 2 days for death of person significant to employee and not specifically listed.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 3 academic terms or maximum 13 months.
Sample rates of per-units pay (current, after 7.2% increase):
Sessional faculty
Base rate per 3 units: $7,050 rising 3 steps to $7,555
Base rate per 6 units: $14,100 rising 3 steps to $15,110
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 7.1% increase):
Sessional music: $62.25 rising 3 steps to $66.70
One-time lump-sum payment: $200 payable on third regular pay date following date of ratification.
Editor’s notes: Travel allowance: $40 per trip for hourly-rated sessional music faculty who reside outside Hamilton and who must travel to McMaster University to give instruction. Cancellation fees: $1,000 if employer cancels appointment after it receives signed appointment letter from sessional-faculty employee; $4,000 (previously $2,000) if date is 2 weeks prior to when appointment commences. Union expenses fund: Employer will remit to CUPE, Local 3906 $14,100 for year 1 (effective date of ratification); $14,100 for year 2 (effective Sept. 1, 2018); $14,100 for year 3 (effective Sept. 1, 2019). Professional development fund: Employer will remit to CUPE, Local 3906 $30,000 for year 1 (effective date of ratification); $33,000 for year 2 (effective Sept. 1, 2018); $36,000 for year 3 (effective Sept. 1, 2019). Safety equipment: Employer will provide protective equipment and clothing when required by OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) and will ensure that it is maintained in good condition. Employer will cover cost of cleaning of protective wear and clothing.
