IAM organizes ATS employees in Montreal

100 workers at Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport join union

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Canada started off the New Year on the right note with an organizing victory on Jan. 11 at Airport Terminal Services (ATS) in Montreal.

“We are definitely carrying on with the momentum from last year when our organizing efforts grew the membership by ten per cent,” Stan Pickthall, IAM Canadian general vice-president.

The 100 new members consist of ATS ramp agents, tow agents, ramp leads, tow crew chiefs and mechanics at Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport. The IAM also represents ATS workers in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

The IAM is largest union in Canada’s air transport sector.
