Bargaining made more difficult due to ongoing budget cuts: CUPE
A tentative agreement was reached on Jan. 24. between the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).
“Details of the agreement will be presented to CUPE members at meetings to take place across the province the week of Feb. 10 to 14,” said Kathy MacLeod, CUPE national representative.
No further details will be released until the agreement is presented to the membership.
“This has a long and difficult round of bargaining, made even more difficult by budget cuts. We were disappointed the recommended ratio of 4.1 hours of direct-care per resident each day was not a part of the agreement,” said Louise Riley, chair of the LTC coordinating committee.
