WestJet today announced that 93 per cent of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Association (AMEA) members voted in favour of a five-year agreement on April 2.

The vote represents 90 per cent of the AMEA’s 688 members, said the company.

The agreement starts May 1, and recognizes the value of WestJet aircraft maintenance engineers (AME) and technicians and their dedication to safety. The union is a member of the WestJet Employee Association, said WestJet.

“WestJet is pleased at the vote outcome and believes this agreement is beneficial to our hard-working AMEs, while providing long-term sustainability for WestJet and all employees,” said Jeff Martin, WestJet COO. “With the agreement in place until 2024, we will be able to continue attracting and retaining the most qualified aircraft maintenance engineers in the industry.”
