Teachers cancel 1-day protest after ruling from labour board

Ontario Labour Board says protest is ‘unlawful’

In a statement released Friday morning, the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) said it will comply with a ruling by the Ontario Labour Board and withdraw a planned protest for Friday.

On Thursday, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty called the teachers' actions "illegal" and urged them to stop their planned protest, which the ETFO says was planned in response to the education minister’s decision to impose contracts on them under Bill 115.

The labour board decided the protest was unlawful and teachers are expected to be back in class.
