SSQauto employees ratify collective agreement

New deal ends general strike

SSQ Financial Group announced members of the SSQauto Employees’ Union ratified a new collective agreement with employer SSQauto.

As a result, the general strike at the Quebec-based business will end. SSQauto provides auto, home and business insurance to group members and individuals.

Employees returned to work on April 30.

The collective agreement covers the period from Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 31, 2019.

“The agreement between the parties demonstrates an understanding of the issues surrounding the sustainability of our pension and group insurance plans,” said SSQ Financial Group CEO René Hamel.

According to SSQ Financial Group, measures were put in place to ensure activities return to normal as quickly as possible.
