UFCW, Super C Valleyfield ratify contract

Agreement includes wage increases, new positions

UFCW Canada Local 500 members at the Super C in Valleyfield, Que., ratified a new collective agreement.

The new seven-year contract covers 80 members including assistant cashiers, clerks, butchers and assistant department managers.

A salary increase of two per cent — retroactive to May 1, 2015 — was negotiated for workers at the top end of the wage scales.

Some workers were included in new wage scales as part of the deal.

Additionally, nine new positions for full-time workers will be created. The positions will feature flexible working hours between 32 and 40 hours per week.

Vacation time was also improved by the contract. Employees with four or more years of seniority will now have three weeks of vacation, employees with eight or more years of seniority will have four weeks of vacation and employees with 17 or more years of seniority will have five weeks of vacation.

UFCW Local 500 has represented members at the Valleyfield location for more than 15 years.
