Swissport Canada workers in Montreal join IAM

Group includes ground workers, administrative staff

Canada’s largest airport union, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) gained 250 new members on March 7 at Swissport Canada at Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport in Montreal.

“The IAM welcomes all of these new members to their union,” said Stan Pickthall, IAM Canadian general vice president. “These workers sought out the IAM to be their union of choice. Our reputation for providing good service and first class representation to our members paved the way for us to be certified for this group.”

The new members include ground handlers, ground mechanics, storekeepers, and communications coordinator and operation officers. They are newest members of IAM Local Lodge 1751, said the union.
