Wexford Residence employees unanimously ratify agreement

New deal includes wage increases for dietary aide, porter classifications

Employees at the Toronto-based Wexford Residence unanimously voted in favour of a new two-year collective agreement.

The workers — members of the Health Care and Service Workers Union Local 304 — are affiliated with the CLAC.

According to the union, highlights of the contract include special adjustments of one per cent to the dietary aide and porter classifications as well as increases of 2.8 per cent over the term of the agreement.

Approximately 29 employees providing services to seniors in a long-term care setting will be affected by the agreement.

“We’re very happy with the work done,” said bargaining committee member Anne Marie Maloney.

“Getting an opportunity to vote on a freely-negotiated contract is something that my co-workers really like. Our direction was to improve wages, and we were successful.”
