Teamsters ratify agreement with Garda

Deal includes improvements to wages, pension

GardaWorld Cash Services workers associated with the Teamsters Union ratified a new collective agreement.

More than 450 Garda workers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba will be affected by the agreement.

Workers will receive a wage increase of 3.5 per cent for the first two years of the contract.

Additionally, employees will join the Teamsters Prairie Provinces Pension Plan and the Prairie Teamsters Health & Welfare Plan, which will result in improvements to workers’ pension and health and welfare benefits.

The deal was finalized on June 4, with 93.5 per cent of members voting in favour of the agreement. The collective agreement will expire in 2018.

“Both parties worked diligently to improve the workers’ conditions,” said Lance Wallace, assistant director of the armoured car division of Teamsters Canada. “The bargaining committee did a hell of a job and they deserve to be congratulated.”
