Unifor members at No Frills ratify new agreement

Deal includes improvements to wages, benefits

Unifor Local 414 members voted to ratify a new collective agreement with No Frills grocery stores.

The deal — which affects 1,265 workers at 19 stores across Ontario — includes prescription drug coverage for eligible part-time workers.

“This is a first for Unifor members at No Frills,” said Unifor Local 414 president Christine Connor.

The agreement also provides wage increases for both full- and part-time employees, with increases ranging from six per cent to nine per cent. Additionally, the deal includes enhanced call-in pay provisions and a ‘new hire’ wage scale intended to protect part-time workers’ wage increases against inflation.

Unifor is one of Canada’s largest retail worker unions, with more than 20,000 members working in supermarkets, pharmacies, appliance stores and other retail shops across the country.
