Food retail employees at IGA Marché Lamontagne et filles in Saint-Félicien, Que., ratified their contract on June 27.

The new deal was approved by 88 per cent of the more than 100 United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW), Local 500 members in the bargaining unit. 

As part of the new collective agreement, a four per cent wage adjustment will be made in the first two years for butchers and employees at the end rate of the wage scale will receive an annual wage increase of two per cent, said the union.

Other highlights include a 25 per cent increase to the assistant-manager premium, an increase in the holiday bonus based on the store’s performance, 16 additional hours of sick leave for regular employees and eight additional such hours for part-time employees and the creation of three regular employee positions, according to UFCW.
