A tentative agreement was reached on Sept. 8 between Unifor, Local 7575 and the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville, averting a strike.

“We are pleased that the bargaining committee has reached an agreement they will recommend to members which, if ratified, will avoid any inconvenience to hotel guests and the public during the Toronto International Film Festival,” said Jerry Dias, Unifor’s national president.

Details of the tentative agreement will not be released until they are presented to union members at a ratification meeting, said the union.

Unifor represents 168 workers in all areas of the hotel including guest services, the lounge, banquets, kitchen, laundry, room attendants and maintenance.
