Deal reached to end weeklong strike at Air Canada Centre arena: MLSE

600 restaurant staff sign deal

TORONTO (CP) — Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment says a deal has been reached to end a weeklong strike that affected two Air Canada Centre restaurants.

The company says Saturday's agreement will see the Real Sports Bar & Grill reopen Sunday, while diners will be able to return to E11even on Monday.

The roughly 600 workers who hit the picket lines are mainly kitchen, housekeeping and serving staff, and are also responsible for changing over the arena from a basketball court to a hockey rink.

The staff represented by Teamsters Local 847 went on strike last week after rejecting a deal that was reached following six months of negotiation.

The labour action didn't disrupt Toronto Maple Leafs or Toronto Raptors games.
