Wage increase, increased dental benefits part of new package: IAM

Members of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), Local 235 employed as service technicians, ratified a new collective agreement with Hobart Canada on Dec. 8.

The three-year agreement provides wage increases of 2.5 per cent in the first year retroactive to June 28, 2017, and two per cent in the second year and 2.5 per cent in the third year, said the union.

Other agreement highlights include increased dental benefit coverage, an increase in matched pension contributions from one per cent to two per cent, according to USW.

The employees consist of one warehouse worker and 12 service technicians that service Hobart Industrial Dishwashers and bakery ovens used in restaurants and the food industry across Ontario.

Hobart has more 100 service technicians across Canada.
