Members of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), Local 1975 ratified a new collective agreement on April 9 with Anago Resources of London, Ont.

The 18-month agreement provides wage increases of two per cent for day-shift personnel, three per cent for relief and part-time personnel and lump-sum payments for night shift, cooks, cleaners and maintenance personnel, said the union.

“This was the first time we had to go to conciliation with this employer, due largely in part to pay equity and alignment of classifications for equal pay for work of equal value,” said Derek Ferguson, IAM District Lodge 78 directing business representative.

Other agreement highlights include relief and part-time personnel receive a 2.5 per cent increase in lieu of benefits, overtime pay for shift extensions, a $0.10 per hour increase in pension contributions, introduction of eye care benefit of $200 per year including spouses and increased sick time with the ability to carry over unused time, according to IAM.
