Unifor, Local 229 reached a tentative agreement on Aug. 14 with doctors at the Port Arthur Health Centre (PAHC) in Thunder Bay, Ont., that if ratified, would end a 128-day strike.

“This bargaining committee is unanimously recommending that members accept this agreement which will see patient care return to normal as soon as possible,” said Katha Fortier, assistant to the Unifor national president.

A ratification vote will be held on Aug. 15. The PAHC board will then have to approve the agreement that was reached after just one day back at the bargaining table, said the union.

No further details will be released until both parties have voted on whether to accept the agreement.
