Renewal agreement: Effective June 1, 2018 to May 31,2021. Signed on Dec. 24, 2018.

Wage adjustments:

Effective June 3, 2018: $0.50 per hour (all maintenance employees).

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour will be paid to employees working on second shift (scheduled shifts that start at or after 1:15 p.m. but before 11p.m.). Effective May 31, 2020: $0.55 per hour. $0.60 per hour (previously $0.55 per hour) will be paid to employees working on third shift (scheduled shifts that start at or after 11 p.m. but before 4 a.m.). $0.50 per hour for all hours worked as live hanger.

Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 1floating holiday (floating holidays which are not used will not be paid out.).

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work in excess of daily or weekly schedule (8 hours per day or 40 hours per week); double time after 12 hours of work. Time and one-half for all work on sixth scheduled shift; double time for all work on seventh scheduled shift.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Dental: Employer will contribute $0.51 for all hours worked to United Food and Commercial Workers Trusteed Dental Plan-Ontario.

Vision: $240 every 24 months (previously $230 every 24months). Eye examinations can be claimed within $220 maximum. Effective June 1, 2020: $250 every 24 months.

STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 60% of employee’s average weekly wage to EI maximum, maximum 26 weeks.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $30,000.

Pension: Effective ratification, employees who are not currently enrolled in existing DB pension plan will have option for 1-time irrevocable election to join DB pension plan. If no election is made, once eligible employee will be required to join DC plan. Employer matches mandatory employee contribution, maximum 2%.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (mother, father, spouse, son, daughter). 3 days for death of brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law. 1 day for death of grandparent, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchild.

Seniority – recall rights: 12months.

Probationary period: 90 working days accumulated within 6consecutive months.

Severance: 1 week per year of service after 1 year of seniority; 2 weeks per year of service after 5 years of seniority, maximum 34 weeks.

Safety shoes: $230 per year for 2 pairs of leather safety boots for maintenance employees. $200 per year for rubber safety boots for all other plant employees. Employees may still elect to purchase 3 pairs of boots per year.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply aprons, hairnets, gloves where required and launderable outer work-clothing where specified.

Tool allowance: $300 per year for replacement of broken tool and purchase of tools required by employer for maintenance employees.

Editor’s notes: Medical examinations: Employer will pay for yearly medical exams required by employer for plant employees, including drivers’ medical examinations, once every 3 years. Training, education fund: Employer will contribute $0.03 to United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 175, Training and Education Fund for all hours paid for and worked by bargaining unit employees. Orthotics benefit: Maximum 1 pair of orthotics per year for each claimant, maximum $400 per pair.
