Unifor Local 27 members at drug manufacturer Accucaps Industries in Strathroy, Ont., are back at work after being locked out for more than two weeks.
The 140 affected employees recently ratified an agreement after being locked out on March 10 when negotiations failed to move forward. According to the union, the employer’s offer at the time included no wage increases for about 90 per cent of its members.
The new deal, however, includes a wage increase of $1.50 per hour for the lowest paid workers. Approximately 60 per cent of its members will benefit from this increase, Unifor said.
The top-paid members will receive a lump sum equal to 2.5 per cent of their wages.
Additionally, all members will receive a $600 signing bonus as well as improvements to various benefit plans.
